MOBILE COMPUTING

Welcome to Mobile Computing page.

The group is working towards establishing a wireless collaborative classroom. The main goal is to utilize emerging technology, to introduce interactivity, collaboration, Application sharing, Computer-based Q&A and Wireless applications in the field of education.

Towards this, a study was conducted on the feasibility of available software components in establishing a wireless cooperative education. Configured with three wireless protocols – Bluetooth, 802.11a and 802.11b – off-the-shelf .NET and J2EE platforms were evaluated as the classroom infrastructure software components.

A classroom environment was simulated by incorporating applications ranging from interactive instant messenger and web-based show-and-tell applications to a rich media presentation. Our feasibility study focused on qualities of services of delivered media as well as human factor aspects. It also deals with a variety of platforms such as tablet PCs, PDAs, notebooks, and desktops.
