RESEARCH

Research at XCR is focused on following main areas: High Availability(HA) and High Performance Computing (HPC),IPMI (Intelligent Platform Management Interface) and Dependability Analysis for Distributed Systems. High Availability (HA) Computing has long been played a critical role in industry mission critical applications. On the other hand, High Performance Computing (HPC) has equally been a significant enabler to the R&D community for their scientific discoveries. With combination of HA and HPC, together will clearly lead to even more benefits to both industry, academic and research entities

The other focus are Session Initiation Protocol(SIP), SIP for Instant Messaging and Presence Leverage, JABBER, GROOVE, Peer to Peer Distributed Systems, High Speed Clusters.

HA-OSCAR Our objective is to research and develop an open and cost-effective solution for combined needs of High Availability (HA) and High Performance Computing (HPC). Our ultimate goal is to drive toward zero downtime in the HPC environments; both planned and unplanned downtimes.... IPMI IPMI based CMS system HA_GRID HA_GRID Dependability Analysis for Distributed Systems This research strives for an integral analysis and design framework that automatically models system dependability based on UML design notations and computes system reliability and availability. A key activity is to investigate UML design semantics and their mapping to dependability models such as Continuous Markov Chain, reliability block diagrams and fault trees etc with minimum end-user requirements. Mobile Computing Wireless Cooperative education: The group is working towards establishing a wireless collaborative classroom. The main goal is to utilize technology, to introduce interactivity, collaboration, Application sharing, Computer-based Q&A and Wireless technology in the field of education. Service Management & Engineering The group is working on a broad area encompassing Web services, Mobile computing, Wireless security and Internet enabled appliances. Some of the projects under this area are: Directory services, wireless security architecture. Intelligent software agents for web services. Service management & QoS in Wireless. Adaptive website and Persanalization. IT sphere and smart living environment. Dependability Computing Developing Effective Cluster Connectivity: The focus area is on developing an effective cluster computing solution. Distributed Computing Web Services have emerged as a new standard, where applications over the Internet communicate with each other independent of platform language and implementation. Traditionally middleware technologies like DCOM, RMI and CORBA were used where a new TCP connection is made every time an application needs to access a remote procedure, where it has to cut through the firewalls.
